Frequently Asked QuestionsQ: Why go through MoConDi? Couldn't I get a much better deal if I go directly to an operator?You may get a better deal by going direct, but going through us enables you to reach a substantially larger user base, as MoConDi's global Business Development team work to enable your content to be available in as many Channels (Storefronts) as possible. Being a MoConDi partner means that you will spend less time and costs maintaining direct relationships, as you will get the full benefit of having access to all our Storefronts. MoConDi now has access to several million mobile subscribers through our Storefronts, and we are aggressively pursuing new channels in our easy, no-hassle set-up of download services. Lastly, more and more mobile operators are cutting down on the number of partners that they work with directly, thus working with companies such as MoConDi may be the only choice to get to a market. Currently, business models vary widely, billing methods and models are unclear and vary widely from market to market, and pricing levels and handset penetration also varies widely. Therefore we have to rely on flexibility in our revenue share models in order to properly evaluate the business case in each market. Q: What are the benefits of becoming a MoConDi partner?MoConDi offers 24/7 managed service for our storefront partners. We have invested large sums in a professional solution enabling you to manage your content and to provide you with real-time reports with access to all our distribution partners. We add substantial value to the entire value chain by enabling a marketplace for downloadable content, delivered to our Storefronts in a tested, secure environment. We are experts in retailing, and provide advanced solutions to maximize content sales, and thereby revenue for you. We provide a real value in the distribution value chain, and therefore take a share of the revenue for doing so. Other aggregators and distributors may simply offer a sales force, and will likely therefore require less share of the revenue. However, few distributors can offer the powerful combination of technology and distribution that we offer. Q: Are revenue shares and prices similar across Channels?No, both end-user pricing and revenue shares vary widely from market to market. We have a global perspective, and we see prices range for a java game from €1-1.50 in Eastern Europe, €1-2 in Asia and €3-4 in Western Europe. Revenue shares we can get vary widely depending on: a) Size of the customer base. This is the single most important factor in determining profitability for all parties. b) Amount of marketing performed by the Channel. MoConDi rarely enters into a relationship with a Channel without getting commitment in the form of marketing guarantees or minimum revenue guarantees. Marketing is by far the biggest determinant of the uptake of new services in a market. c) Billing methods and costs. Costs for billing can range from reasonable levels around 10-20%, to very high, up to 60% in some markets. Billing costs are influenced by a number of things, such as the market power of the operators, the state of their billing systems, the number of pre-paid customers (retailers take a substantial share for distributing pre-paid cards), number of available methods for mobile billing in a country, and more. d) Other economic factors, such as market power of the Channel etc For more perspectives on economic factors, see this Article written by the CEO of MoConDi. Q: What is the net revenue that I get a revenue share from?We share revenue on the price to end users less VAT (if applicable) and less billing charges. Costs for billing in certain countries are still artificially high, and we will not go into those markets if we feel that the share of revenue that you and us receive is too low. Q: What will happen if you approach someone whom I already have distribution relationships with?It is very likely that we may approach Channels that you have a distribution relationship with. We advise you to word your contracts so that any relationships you have directly with Channels supersedes any deals made with aggregators and distributors, thereby allowing you the best deal. Q: If I upload my content, will it immediately generate downloads?First your content has to be tested and approved by MoConDi before it is made visible on our site and to our Channel partners. Once it is made visible, some of our Channels will make it immediately visible, while others who prefer to have a strong editorial control may only add a few pieces of content to their portal each week, and may or may not choose to promote your content to their users. Q: What do you do to promote my content?All content that is uploaded is tested by our Content Team. We create periodic e-mails where we notify our Channel partners on the latest content.
